Shearing Day!

Alpaca fiber is very warm. Several times warmer than sheep wool. My alpacas have been letting me know this lately by hanging out in the shade, taking a splash in the pond, and lying prostrate on the ground looking like they are dead. So, today we had the shearers come out to take the fiber off and make the little guys more comfortable. They didn't really enjoy the process, but they ran around and rolled all over the field like crazy afterward. They will be much more comfortable now and they'll have plenty of new growth to keep them warm next Fall when it starts getting cold again. The added bonus is that I now have bags and bags of fiber to play with!

I'm not sure there is anything funnier looking than a freshly sheared alpaca!
