Owie Paper Diapers- Potty Training
We have always used cloth diapers. I only use disposables when we are going to be away from home for more than 2 or 3 days. Owen has ended up in disposables several times in the hospital. Especially after an airlift!
We have to check Owen's urine ketones every few days (more often after a change or if he has problems) . In order to do that I have to put cotton balls in his diaper to catch the urine. Cloth diapers don't work for this since the cloth pulls the urine out of the cotton balls, not leaving me enough to do the test with. So, Owen gets to wear a disposable every few days for a couple of hours.
He hates "Owie Paper Diapers" as he calls them. I've had him crying in the hospital about wearing the disposable diapers. Now that he has to wear them at home he complains horribly about it.
Since we've started the diet Owen has regained much of his lost cognitive abilities. He used to have no idea when he was wet or dry. Now he's telling us right away when he needs changed. Potty training still hasn't been going well however. He just has no desire to even try.
Now, I'm going to blame sleep deprivation on the fact that it's taken me this long to put this together, but I finally connected the dots. Tomorrow, I have a new strategy. No more nice cozy cloth diapers! It's either Lego Star Wars undies or Owie Paper Diapers.
Wish me luck!

Brilliant! I always put mine in undies during potty training...this might work out very well for you. Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteOwen has been refusing to put on undies. He really likes his cloth diapers. I'm only giving him the choice between disposables or undies now, so he's mostly choosing undies. If I don't give him a choice, he just screams and cries until he wet all over. We're still having more wet than dry times, but he's finally gone on the toilet. He's never done that before. I'm hoping the connection has now been made.
